Financial Accountability

Give five dollars. All five reach Haiti.

No exceptions: 100% of every designated dollar reaches Haiti. No overhead skimmed off the top, no administrative fee buried in the fine print. What you give is exactly what a child receives.

General operating costs are covered separately and are never deducted from a gift designated to a school, a scholarship, or the feeding program.

Your gift never pays for overhead

Haiti Education Foundation (HEF) covers its own minimal operating costs through separate designated funding, including gifts from donors who choose to designate their giving specifically toward that purpose. A gift designated to a school, a scholarship, or the feeding program is never reduced to cover overhead.

  • Overhead Has Its Own Fund

Some donors choose to designate their gift specifically toward operating costs. That is the only source that ever covers overhead. Your school or scholarship gift never does.

Every sponsored school has its own account

Money designated to a specific school goes to that school. Every one of HEF’s sponsored schools carries its own designated account. Our General Scholarship Fund covers the expenses of the unsponsored schools.

Charity Navigator rates Haiti Education Foundation a Four-Star charity (94%, as of September 2026). See the profile.

Can you trust this?

  • Is it safe? Are your people okay?

Gangs control up to 90% of Port‑au‑Prince, the UN says (June 2026). HEF’s schools in the southern mountains are open today, and our Haitian staff, who live in these mountains, have never stopped showing up.

  • Doesn’t this create dependency?

HEF’s schools are under the leadership of the Episcopal Church of Haiti. Our Haitian priests oversee the day to day operations. They were never led to depend on an American presence, and that is exactly why the ministry has survived the difficult times when we have not been able to travel. Haitian priests, teachers, and directors carried the work forward on their own.

  • How do you know the money actually arrives?

An established system of documentation ensures that each staff member is paid as directed. That structure has been honored by teaching staff, principal, and priest since the ministry began.

A sacred trust, kept in full

HEF’s donors give expecting each gift to do exactly what they intended. Give today, and your designated gift reaches Haiti in full.
